The Wynnum road upgrade preparation works have begun! although its a pain in the neck while road works are being undertaken, the end result is usually worth the hassle. the first step in the process of this project is the removal of the old prewar homes, which have been loaded onto the trucks for relocating, and the site clearing has begun.
The Stage 1 upgrade, located between Latrobe Street and Canning Bridge, will improve road capacity to cater for current demands and accommodate future traffic growth. On completion in 2020, travel times for all vehicles (including buses) are expected to be reduced by 50% within the Stage 1 area during peak periods.
BCC have produced a great video showing the improvements that will be made, which we hand added to this post for you to take a look.
When complete, Stage 1 of the project will:
- improve safety for all road users
- improve road capacity to cater for current demands and accommodate expected traffic growth
- improve travel times
- reduce congestion.
This is a positive step towards improving the connection of the inner eastern suburbs to the CBD, and make travelling around the inner east much easier. I don’t believe this kind of work has an impact on property values in the area, but more of a lifestyle improvement for those who currently live and work around there.
